The Dimbleby Benefits Service

Thanks to your generous support, Guy’s Cancer is able to offer the Dimbleby Benefits Service, which is a free, personalised financial support service for patients.

Supporting patients with financial advice

We’re the charity that helps fund Guy’s Cancer to provide the very best in personalised care. This means supporting patients and their families mentally and emotionally, as well as physically. The impact of cancer is deeply personal. Lives can be forever shaped by the series of moments that begin with a diagnosis. And money worries often add to feelings of fear and exhaustion. That’s why we help to fund the Dimbleby Benefits Service, a service which provides much needed welfare benefits advice for patients at Guy’s Cancer.

The Dimbleby Benefits Service helps remove barriers to financial support

Navigating benefit applications can be particularly challenging for cancer patients. Many face barriers, such as difficulty speaking on the phone or not having a computer for online claims. The emotional toll of filling out complex forms or dealing with denied claims can have a big impact on stress levels. The Dimbleby Benefits Service helps to remove these barriers by providing personalised, step-by-step assistance throughout the claims process, whether it’s applying for benefits or appealing decisions.

Without the advice and support that the Dimbleby Benefits Service provides, patients could miss out on thousands of pounds that they’re entitled to. By making these benefits more accessible, the service is helping to reduce the financial strain that can weigh heavily on patients during one of the toughest times in their lives.

For every £1 of funding we get from Guy’s Cancer Charity, we’re able to secure an additional £20 per person in benefits for each cancer patient
