How do I know the person calling at the door is legitimate?
If you would like to confirm the details of a Guy’s Cancer Charity door to door fundraiser who recently visited you. Please contact our friendly Supporter Care team from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm on 020 7848 4701 or get in touch with our team.
Are the local authorities or police informed that Guy’s Cancer Charity is undertaking door-to-door fundraising in the area?
Yes. In London, door-to-door fundraising is licensed by the Charities Licensing Unit of the Metropolitan Police. A house-to-house collection license has to be obtained from this Unit before door-to-door fundraising in London can commence. Local police forces in London are not notified that we are fundraising in their areas because this is instead handled centrally by the Charities Licensing Unit.
Outside of London, local authorities decide whether house-to-house collection licenses are required for door-to-door fundraising depending upon the type of collection. These licenses are obtained where so required and in this way the local authorities are notified. Additionally, outside of London, the corresponding police force is notified via the general enquiries line that Guy’s Cancer Charity is conducting door-to-door fundraising in their area.
The fundraisers are authorised to operate Monday to Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-5pm.

A gift of £10.00 per month becomes £12.50 per month with Gift Aid. All we need from you is a simple declaration saying that you want to use Gift Aid – you may have selected this on the tablet in the Direct Debit section.
